About me: I grew up in Baker City on a large ranch and Reno, NV. I am currently a Nurse for the State of Oregon, love to paint and garden and, most importantly, share four wonderful children with my husband Bill of 22 years! From weekend trips to vacations and holidays, our family activities all center on riding. Although all the kids are faster than I, we still enjoy going for family rides and enjoying the beautiful earth God has provided for us.

My favorite riding area: Fort Rock and Four Corners. Each Easter our family with my parents and brother’s family go camping in one of these two areas and enjoy night rides and motorcycle Easter Egg Hunts!

My first bike/ATV: I have no idea! It kind of looked like Tom’s, but I was not used to having fun or going “riding”. It was strictly used to change the sprinkler pipes.

When I first started riding: My best friend had two Honda 50cc (probably 78’s or 79’s) that we would ride on the gravel road as fast as we could and have a ball! My neighbor had a Honda 3-wheeler that we would sneak up to the Pine Creek Reservoir on. I don’t think we ever made it without tipping over. It was always fun though!! The first motorcycle I actually had to buy was a 1989 YZ 250 WR that Bill took on a test ride. He decided that he wanted it so bad and just knew if I rode it, I would not be able to resist. He showed me how to get it started and work the clutch. I got on, popped the clutch and the bike went down a steep embankment (with me on it). I hit a tree and we both broke. As the saying goes “you break it, you buy it!”

My riding experience: I have none! I putt around on the trails and enjoy the scenery. The only time I felt the need to go fast was when I saw a cougar run across the trail right in front of me in Ukiah. I was so scared I thought I could outrun him. The thought never even occurred to me that he could walk faster than I could ride and if I crashed I would be “cougar snack”.

My favorite saying: “It’s not about the number of breaths you take, but the number of moments that take your breath away” Unknown author. I try very hard to appreciate every moment I have and count my blessings.

Why I became an OMRA Officer: I am very distraught about the negativity and unsportsmanlike conduct occurring at our races and on the Message Board. I hope that by ensuring our competitions are held to the utmost professional manner and all members and promoters have the same expectations, we will be able to band together and accomplish great things. I want to help make the OMRA Series the organization that other competition series look up to as an example. Oregon has the best and most diverse riding areas in the States. We have a great opportunity to produce the best off-road racers around!

I'd also like to say: Feel free to contact me, your Rider Committee Coordinator or your Youth Rider Committee Coordinator if you have ideas to improve our sport. Please remember that our Message Board is a public domain and anyone and everyone can view our comments. Negativity and “back-lashing” does not promote a positive image of our sport or encourage those individuals that are considering a new pastime of riding or racing. The best way to increase the size of our competition classes is to invite new members and promote the OMRA.
